When it comes to first impressions, a corporate lobby is quite literally the first thing that visitors see when they arrive at your facility. As the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. When it comes to the lobby, whether you like it or not, it’s your first attempt at communicating your company's culture, values, and brand experience.
With so much riding on the lobby making a good first impression, you would think that it would receive the best treatment, with careful design and exceptional execution of technology to create the ultimate experience. Yet, often you find that lobbies are lacking.
Some common challenges include:
Ambient lighting
Washed-out content
Underutilized space (walls)
Lack of dynamic content
Inability to capture attention
Why should we care about these issues, anyway? We have a reception area, a comfortable place to sit, and a monitor playing our latest company highlights. However, a great lobby may be able to provide a bump in retention, attraction, and morale, like the one Salesforce has in California, which features an LED video display wall. This sort of activation showcases brand values and has the ability to tell larger-than-life stories.
Here is why LED is the ideal canvas for all these experiences:
Unique and/or dynamic form factor
Effective use of space
Art
Video
Brightness
Vivid eye-catching color
No bezels
The conventional wisdom is that LED video walls, while providing all of the above benefits, are expensive — far too expensive to fit into a corporate lobby, museum lobby, or arena atrium budget. In days past, that may have been true, but using today’s LED, cost has gone down and is more affordable than you may think!
As great as that is, it doesn’t stop there. With LED’s modular nature, you can create a variety of arrangements and sizes, like this install at Nexteer.
